Who we are
CLAVIS (“we”) makes the CLAVIS app. Questions about this policy: appfeedbackbox+clavis@gmail.com.
Your prompts
Everything you write in CLAVIS is stored on your device. If iCloud is on, it is also stored in your private iCloud database so your devices stay in sync. That database belongs to your Apple ID: we cannot access it, and Apple’s Privacy Policy covers how Apple stores it. CLAVIS has no account system and no servers that hold your content.
Usage and crash data
To understand which features are used and to fix crashes, CLAVIS uses Google Firebase:
- Google Analytics for Firebase counts actions such as “copied a prompt” or “opened Settings”, together with an app instance identifier, device model, OS version, app version, language and an approximate region derived from your network.
- Firebase Crashlytics receives crash reports and error reports: the state of the app when it failed, device model and OS version.
- Firebase Performance Monitoring (iPhone and iPad) measures things like app start time and network timing.
These reports never include the content of your prompts, titles, tags, categories, notes or searches. They are not linked to your identity, not used for advertising and not sold. CLAVIS does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA) and does not track you across other apps or websites.
You can turn all of this off at any time in CLAVIS › Settings › Privacy › Share Analytics & Crash Reports. Google processes this data under the Firebase privacy terms; Analytics data is kept for up to 14 months.
Pasting on Mac
On Mac, CLAVIS can paste a prompt into the app you are using. To do that it presses ⌘V for you, which macOS only allows with Accessibility access. CLAVIS uses this permission only to send that keystroke after you choose a prompt. It does not read your screen, other apps’ content or what you type, and nothing about it leaves your Mac. The permission is optional, and you can remove it at any time in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Accessibility.
Purchases
Payments for CLAVIS Pro are handled entirely by Apple; we never see your payment details. To unlock Pro on your devices we use RevenueCat, which receives your purchase history and an anonymous app user identifier. It is not linked to your name or email.
When you contact us
If you write to us from Contact Us in the app, your email includes what you type, any screenshots you add, basic device details (model, OS and app version, language) and a diagnostic log. The log records app events such as screens opened, actions taken and errors; it never contains the text of your prompts. You can review the email before sending it. We use it only to answer you and fix the problem, and we delete support emails when they are no longer needed.
Your choices and rights
- Turn analytics and crash reporting off in Settings › Privacy.
- Delete prompts in the app; deleting the app removes local data. To remove iCloud data, go to Settings › your name › iCloud › Manage Storage on iPhone, or System Settings › Apple Account › iCloud › Manage on Mac, and choose CLAVIS.
- Depending on where you live (for example the EU/UK under GDPR, Türkiye under KVKK, or California under CCPA), you can ask us about, correct or delete personal data we hold. Email us and we will reply within 30 days. Because analytics data is not linked to your identity, we may not be able to find it from your request alone.
Children
CLAVIS is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top and, for significant changes, mention it in the app’s release notes.
